Wow! What a truly wonderful place to stay. I have never visited Northumberland before and I am blown away by the raw beauty and peace to be found there. 2 The Square is a stunning cottage, beautifully kept and with every thought to detail. The log burner was such a treat and the beds and bedding were absolutely superb, so very comfortable - it was hard to leave them! The owners have really thought about this house as a holiday let, down to the small things like having photos of the kitchen cupboards and drawers in the admin folder to make it easier to pop things back where they were expected was so handy. The sand room with a shower was ever so handy and helped us keep the house tidy. The childrens' games selection and some crafts available was a lovely touch and a nice surprise. The location is second to none, a stone's throw from the awesome, wild and beautiful beach. Thank you for a truly wonderful time.
A beautiful cottage, welcoming and peaceful in a stunning Northumberland coastal location. The kids loved the beach at the end of the road and we all loved the log burner at the end of the day. There is so much to explore locally and a range of child friendly pubs and cafes. We will definitely book again. The owners have thought of everything to help make your stay as comfortable as possible, but if you do have questions they are very approachable. We all highly recommend!
I have wanted to stay here for over 20 years - and every moment that we were there made the wait worthwhile! Beautiful clean home from top to bottom, felt comfortable from the moment we got there, amazing attention to detail from crisp white sheets to the little limpet display in the wet room toilet, perfect place to relax, stunning scenery, excellent location for staying put or travelling around, owners are helpful and friendly … pub is close and canny too! Only fault is that coming home has made me want to decorate my own home!
Perfection in every way! We've just booked our third stay at the Cottage which has now been renamed "our happy place". I can't express how amazing it is to wake up to the sound of the sea and walk a few steps with my coffee in hand to an empty and beautiful beach. The cottage itself is finished to the highest standard with the most comfortable beds, luxurious linen and spacious kitchen and sitting room. Hatty and Simon have though of everything which means we can just get down to the important business of relaxing. A real gem, so much so, sometime I think I shouldn't be telling others!!!
A Northumberland idyll. The children loved it. Great food (next door), empty beaches, friendly people, stunning skies. The house is wonderful and beautifully kept. I just wish it was free more often!
A beautifully renovated cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It’s just off the most beautiful beach in Northumberland and a wonderful location to explore the rest of the coast from. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic week at the cottage - it is in a perfect location next to the pub and with the beach on the doorstep! The cottage has been renovated to such a high standard and is so cosy with everything you need. It is ideal for families and our 2 year old little girl loved it and didn’t want to go home. It really can’t be faulted and we are booking for next year already. I can’t recommend it enough
What an incredible week we had at 2 The Square! It is a beautiful home in a beautiful location. Our little boy loved being able to go next door to the beach and we loved going next door to the pub! We spent hours playing in the sand and hunting for Big Limpets and it was wonderful knowing we were going back to such a cosy house. The stove is fantastic! And the wet room is genius. I loved all the little nautical touches throughout the property and we had an excellent night's sleep every night. There is a lovely church round the corner where we were made very welcome on the Sunday morning and had lots of lovely days out at Bamburgh Castle, the Grace Darling Museum, Northumbria Country Zoo and Holy Island.
What a fantastic, happy and restful place. So comfortable and perfectly located. We rock pooled, explored the coast and built sandcastles all day and we slept so well with the sea air in our lungs. Feeling refreshed and invigorated after our trip and can't wait to go back! Heaven!
We had a fabulous holiday at 2 the square Low Newton. Very clean, comfortable home next to pub and the sea! What’s not to like? It was perfect.

Practically perfect in every way! An astonishingly lovely cottage - beautifully refurbished with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful holiday. Really cosy with very comfortable beds, good quality linens and a fully equipped kitchen. Right next door to the fabulous Ship Inn (we had an excellent lobster dinner and lots of good beer) and a few steps to the lovely Newton beach for walks and epic sunsets. Thanks so much - we had a very memorable week.
A super holiday in a beautiful location; pub and beach a stones throw from a newly renovated fisherman’s cottage. The kids had a fantastic few days building sandcastles on a pristine beach and we enjoyed delicious food and locally brewed ale from the pub next door whilst sitting in the sunshine, watching the world go by from the cottage. We really couldn’t fault the cottage, the location or the host. A perfect week.
Highly recommended. 2 The Square is a beautifully restored and well-equipped historic fisherman’s cottage overlooking the sea and only a few yards from a clean sandy beach. Also literally next door is a nice characterful pub and microbrewery.
The dream getaway cottage. A few steps across the village green and you're on an idyllic sandy beach. Rock pools to explore, a romantic view of Dunstanburgh Castle and wonderful walks along the beach and dunes. The cottage is enchanting, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms/loos. The kitchen is particularly pretty, all in white and navy with a large kitchen table and very well equipped. Highly recommended. I wish it was mine.
Great place to stay, the house is stunning, all newly refurbished. Comfy beds, tv, cool cooker. Great wet room to wash down after the beech, which is on the doorstep. Also there is a pub as close as the beech. Perfect getaway

What a truly enchanting cottage in the most fabulous location - a hidden gem!
One could use superlatives for ever, the standard to which they have done the house, the sweeping beach to Dunstanburgh Castle, the food from the Ship Inn next door, everything including the weather was perfect.
